What it will look like
At maximum the Sun becomes a thin crescent — in the UK it's never fully covered. Never look at any stage without your Eclipse Glasses UK filters on.
Your eyes don't get a second chance — don't gamble them on counterfeits.
Every eclipse, the market floods with cheap, unverified "eclipse glasses." Look at the Sun through the wrong filter and you can damage your sight permanently — often painlessly, in seconds.
Eclipse Glasses UK is different. Our lenses are certified to EN ISO 12312-2, the international safety standard for looking directly at the Sun, and are CE marked. Every batch is independently tested and verified by a leading German testing lab.
How the filters protect you: Ordinary sunglasses — even dark or polarised ones — are not safe for looking at the Sun. They're built to cut everyday glare, not to reduce the Sun's intense light to a safe level, and they let through far too much of it. Our certified solar filters block the Sun's harmful ultraviolet and infrared and cut visible light to the level required by EN ISO 12312-2, so you see a soft, clear image of the Sun and nothing that can harm your eyes.

See group packsHow to watch safely in the UK
On 12 August 2026 the UK sees a partial eclipse — the Sun is never fully covered. That means it is never safe to look at it without protection. Keep your Eclipse Glasses UK filters on the whole time you're looking at the Sun, from the first contact to the last, and only take them off when you look away. Supervise children at all times. Never use a pair whose filter is scratched, torn, punctured or damaged — discard it and use another. Do not use these glasses with cameras, binoculars or telescopes; those need their own special solar filters.
Frequently asked questions
Are these glasses actually safe?
Yes, used correctly. The lenses are certified to EN ISO 12312-2, the international standard for direct solar viewing, and are CE marked; every batch is independently tested by a German lab. Always inspect them first and never use a damaged pair.
Can't I just use my sunglasses, even expensive polarised ones?
No. No sunglasses — however dark or polarised — are safe for looking directly at the Sun. They're made to cut everyday glare, not to reduce the Sun's intense visible and infrared light to a safe level, and they let through thousands of times more light than is safe. Looking at the Sun through them can cause serious, often painless and permanent damage to your sight. Only filters that comply with EN ISO 12312-2 are made for this.
Do the glasses look exactly like the photos?
The safety lenses are identical in every single pair and all comply with EN ISO 12312-2 and are CE marked. The cardboard frame itself — its design, colour and artwork — may vary between batches and can differ from the images shown. What never changes is the certified protection.
Do eclipse glasses expire?
Follow the guidance printed on your glasses. Modern filters made to EN ISO 12312-2 don't carry the old three-year expiry that older glasses once did, but always check them before use and never use a pair that's scratched, punctured, torn, creased or otherwise damaged.
When should I order?
Order by 6 August 2026 for guaranteed UK delivery before the eclipse (EU: 25 July). We dispatch within 2 working days. Stock is finite and demand peaks close to the date, so don't leave it late.
What's your returns policy?
You can cancel within 14 days of delivery and return unused glasses for a refund of the item price, under UK consumer law. Faulty or not-as-described goods are covered separately by your statutory rights.
